The Bridal Emporium Exeter Reviews

Wow! What a fabulous bridal shop! I cannot thank Jenny and her lovely team enough for all their hard work in making my wedding gown perfect. Sian saw us on our initial visit and her customer service is fantastic- she was so professional and kind. I came here after several recommendations from friends and I was not disappointed. My gown was beautiful- I must just add that at no point did I find the staff to be pushy. Out of all the shops I visited bridal emporium were the least pushy and had the best selection of gowns.

On our first visit just over a year ago, I was extremely impressed as the lady that helped us choose my daughters dress was lovely, however after that our experience deteriorated. The dress was ordered and we were told that it would be in before Christmas. It was June. No problem as the wedding was the following July. After many phone calls the dress eventually arrived in February! When we first purchased the dress, both myself and my mother in law remember being told that the first fitting was free. We joked with my daughter about that stating she could not eat anythibg??. However this was not the fact. The fitter we found to be exceedingly pushy with trying to make us buy so many extras. Underwear, shoes etc. I had to be very forceful about the veil and even after clearly saying no to this she then said she would order the veil when we were paying for alterations. The dress is not made to fit. We then had a bill of 120. For the the first alterations. A further two fittings later this work was actually completed. My daughter changed her mind about the shoes and had found done perfect ones , however she could not get a refund, despite them never leaving the shop! On our final fitting, we had been double booked and as we were coming from a distance we could not change it. On arrival we were told we could have half an hour. What a joke. The dress takes that to put on. The hem needed taking up, with about 10 layers of dress, no easy task. However, clearly with no time to sort out the alterations required my daughter was encouraged to not have them done meaning she could hardly walk in it. Because the original alterations still had not completed we could not take the dress fro get this problem sorted. The dress was finally ready a week before the wedding. So cannot do anything. When we arrived for the last two fittings their small area for dress fittings was already busy, so personal time whatsoever. The final fitting had three sets of brides to be and it felt like a cattle market. Awful. My daughter had to sit on the floor to wait. Disgusting. Many bridal shops offer an experience. Champagne. Dedicated solo service. In all the hours I have spent there and spending a lot of money, not once were we offered even a water. In a hot crowded room, nothing. I will say that the dress is beautiful and the lady that originally served us and the lady we finally saw, who was working under awful conditions in the shop, were lovely. But I would not recommend the shop. If we had all the alterations that should have been done another approx 300 would have been added. This is not explained. Double and treble bookings taking place, queuing for a space, no refreshments offfered. Long wait for the dress to finally be ready. Not good

We visited this shop when my daughter, who had had a poor experience earlier in the day felt ready to give up. She was treated like a princess, given an enjoyable experience and plenty of time in choosing and trying on dresses. The assistant, J S, even stayed beyond closing to help her as she made her final decision.
We have returned for 2 dress fittings and the lady was lovely and takes pride in her work.
We are very pleased with our experience here and the amount of effort that has gone into this to make it pleasurable and my daughter to feel special.
Thank you.

Fantastic Customer Service! Me and my best friend went wedding dress shopping here and it was brilliant. They have a great range of dress styles suited to all budgets. Sian, our stylist, was lovely and was really helpful. Please ignore the couple of poor reviews, this shop is brilliant and the customer service is of a very high standard.

Great range of dresses. Excellent customer service. We went in without an appointment and the staff were welcoming and kind. We went upstairs and the assistant showed us a variety of wedding dress styles. She was really helpful. There were so many beautiful dresses all reasonably priced. The fitting rooms were spacious.I'm not a huge fan of lace but this shop had a fantastic variety of gowns unlike other shops. Out of all the wedding dress shops I visited in Exeter this one provided us with the best service and had the best variety of dresses. Will definitely return, highly recommend.

I was really impressed with the experience that me and my friends received when shopping at The Bridal Emporium. The dresses were beautiful and the service outstanding. When I chose my dress, Iwas taken through all the options for alterations. The fittings went really well and the staff did an excellent job at making me feel special. My lace fishtail dress was so comfortable and I felt like a princess! I bought a tiara, veil and a pair of shoes which, i must say, were really nice. My wedding day went so well and I recieved many comments on the dress, all very positive. Thank You for the best wedding dress experience! Xx

Please don't listen to these bad reviews.
The Bridal Emporium provide an outstanding
service. They have beautiful gowns and go that extra
mile to ensure the whole experience is 'magical'.
The staff are very professional and helpful.
I bought my prom dress here a few years ago and have been
back since for a bridesmaid dress. The whole experience
went very smoothly. The dresses were perfect.
My bridesmaid dress needed alternating (which is to be
expected), it fitted perfectly. I will be returning here when I purchase
my wedding gown. I have recommend The Bridal
Emporium to many friends who have also had a positive
experience and have purchase beautiful gowns.
If you are looking for a wedding dress, bridesmaid dress
or wedding accessories, I would highly recommend

I will never ever enter this shop again Nor recommend it!!!!!!!!! I am in the wedding trade so I meet service providers all the time. I can honestly say this is one of the worst places I have been for service sorting any wedding. This was my own wedding the first time was great seemed polite and nice so I tried on some gowns. I was shown a gown that I was led to think was the last one in the shop so this was the reason for the sale price. At the same time I bought a bridesmaid dress for which I was told there was 4 months waiting time. So I left it and didn't call about the bridesmaids dress until the 4 months was up. I was told it would be here soon, left it and called back a few weeks later, but again nothing. In the end I went all the way down there to find it had been marked as in. I waited while they looked, but they came out to say someone had marked it by mistake. So I didn't say anything, I left and called back a few more weeks later and again nothing. In the mean time I took my wedding dress which I had been able to take off the rail, to my friend who is a seamstress who said she is convinced the dress was not just on the rail but worn and also that the clips were all attached on one side and not the other. Final straw I went back down and asked and again about the bridesmaid dress, but still nothing! So this time I got cross and said it was not good enough that it was taking so long. I also pointed out that no one told me about the extra problems with the wedding dress and that I was told 4 months for the bridesmaid dress by this time it was close to 6 months. Although I was upset with them, I tried to stay polite, but did speak very loudly about how angry I was to my partner while leaving the shop. I at this point had no apology for them not being honest and for the time taken with the bridesmaids dress. At last the dress came, way after the date they said, and the excuse was that it was in transit and they had no idea why it was not there on time. Meanwhile I went back to my friend for another wedding dress fitting and we decided to remove some netting from the dress. My friend again insisted it had most certainly been worn and she would not have paid even what I did for the dress. There were marks all over it but that was not the worst of it. She removed the netting to find blood!! Yep blood you can only guess what I mean exactly. I called in a bid to get some help with cost of cleaning this out. They knew I lived a long way away so couldn't just drop it in. I would have been happy to take a picture to provide evidence but I didn't get that far. I had at this point not even been rude. I remained calm and low voiced. I spoke to the lady who sold me the dress who I will point out at no point was rude to me so I wont say that because every time she was polite. However the owner had passed her a message to give me. They would Spot clean it if I took it in. That meant 2 trips of course. I called back and got the owner. Who I might point out is not such a nice person! She asked me to hang on so she could leave the shop floor. (ie so she could be rude without customers hearing) I calmly told her about the marks to which she said they check the dresses and that I have had it a while. She didn't really give me a chance to speak before saying my seamstress could have bled on it. I will point out that my seamstress is an elderly lady far past her monthly days!!! I then said are you saying an old lady put it on bled on it and then put it back in the bag! She said I said that not her. But it was monthly blood not a cut finger if you get my drift! She then was really rude and said you have been rude in the past I don't wish to speak to you any more and hung up on me!! In the wedding trade myself and I have been in 2 types of service for weddings I know how important the big day is for the bride and groom. This was for my own wedding and they had reduced me to tears and added un-due stress. I would never recommend them, and would advise stay clear and go else where. I know lots of other places I would sooner go. Just a shame I didn't know before I handed over my money. Just so you all know, even if a dress is damaged or late they will not refund or compensate you! Be wise go else where!!!
