If you go on Facebook they talk about learning self defense.
My daughter was there for nearly 4 years. Apart from one or 2 classes you rarely learn self defense. The main teacher is a bully you make the smallest mistake heill shout at you and sometimes make your child do up to 50 burpies maybe even more. He puts smaller children against taller and older ones. Also this is more for competitions not street wise.
