Our son had swimming lessons with a man called Matt tonight and though he was amazing at his job and interacted really well with the class, was complimented by our 6 year old aswell as us ????

under any expectations, worse customer service experience I've ever had!
Staff rude and misleading me in the matters of leaving them... after number of letting down incidents... never join them, go to Snap Fitness or Fitness First!

The place is a joke. Sauna, a joke. Nuts and bolts visible on poolside floor. Changing rooms filthy. Toilet doors broken. Hot tub COLD. reception said they would offer us a discount due to hot tub being out of action but to be honest, they should have paid us to use the place. Twi vacuum cleaners just dumped in corner of public areas You can always tell when something is run by Exeter city council. They will be hearing from the EHO as well. On top of this the coffee in adjoining cafe tasted like it had been scooped out of a dish water sink

Myself and my two children came here today and we're not told about the child's pool having 20 people inwhich means they don't have enough lifeguards. By then we were in and changed at the poolside and my son wouldn't go into the big pool because it was really was overly cold. We got changed again and approached reception and demanded a refund. And to top it all off some little lowlife stole our clothes from the changing room whilst our backs were turned. We tried calling several times by no one ever answers. If your thinking about coming here DONT. Travel the short distance to exmouth it's much better and you won't give yourself hypothermia

On Saturday's it will be impossible to use the pool, due to private parties, and depending which manager is on duty, the pool may close at 6pm, only leaving the upstairs facilities until 7:45pm, when you have to get ready to leave. Some of us can only use the pool at weekends, due to work commitments.

The Jacuzzi is out of order every month, with excuses about the pump and waiting for parts, or there will be some other excuse.

I try to use the pool even week, but I cannot recommend the pool to anybody, due to the number of problems (although I would like to be in the position, where I can recommend it in confidence that everything will work).

SWIMMING POOL: If you don't mind being oggled by passers by whilst in your swimmies then this is the place for you. Vast expanse of glass allows anyone to press their nose up and have a good look! Bewildering choice of design.

Beware: YOU COULD BE CHARGED OVER £100 in the month you try to cancel! If you buy monthly by DD, or are considering doing so, READ THE T&C! Staff are pretty miserable in my experience... It's only saving grace were the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes.

Gym staff could really learn a thing or two from their competitors.
Hardly acknowledge you and are usually doing their own workout.
or chatting to friends and look like they hate to be approached. At my previous gym which was actually bigger staff were more friendly and approachable would ask if wanted to learn new things always on hand.
I can only imagine maybe its not a nice place to work which generates this. I really am thinking of going elsewhere not a nice atmosphere.

I use the Riverside Swimming pool most days of the week, but the pool is very cold now, with no improvement over the last 3 weeks.
I believe it could be a serious health risk. When I swam a couple of days ago, it felt like I was hyperventilating for the first 5 lengths, and I started to feel dizzy. This badly affected my breathing, and took about 10 lengths to adjust to the cold water.
I believe swimming should be enjoyable, but at the moment it feels like torture.
When the pool is working properly, it's a nice place to swim, and use the steam facilities. Sadly, I believe it's time to use a different swimming pool, until the problems are fixed, which looks very unlikely any time soon.
I have tried over pools this week, which put the joy back into swimming.
Perhaps if everybody left the pool for one month, then the heating will would be fixed.

I recently joined the Riverside, and enjoyed the facilities until today 14/10/14. The swimming pool is really cold today, making swimming unpleasant. I am hoping this will only be temporary problem, and not a cost cutting exercise.

WHY ARE YOU RECEPTION STAFF SO RUDE????!!!! Something needs to be done as you will lose customers by the minute. You can't even ask them a question without being made to look a tool as they make your question seem ridiculous!

I feel very upset after visiting Riverside today 9/2/14
We organised a trip for our disabled students but it soon turned into a disaster when we found out that none of the Riverside staff had the correct training to use any of the disabled access points provided within Riverside.
We also noticed that when we asked one member of staff a question on these matters there was a total lack of communication between your staff and us as the costumers. As we asked question on where to store the wheelchairs it was obvisius that the staff had no experince with a disabled people and they had to keep leaving us waiting this was for at least more then 20 minutes leaving our disable students cold in swimming costumes.
We even still had to go and find a member of staff at one point and when we did find him he was sat on the life guard chair so we had to ask another member of staff the same question again as the other forgot about us waiting in the changing room.
When we finally got an answer about the disabled chair lift in to the swimming pool he said it was broken as the battery was not working and we did question them about shouldn't there be regular checks put in place to prevent such a embarrassing situation but this was not the case.
We had choice but to have to guide/ help our students using 2 of us either side of them as if we cancelled swimming it would have left out students very dissapointed and leave them feeling inadequate.
The swimming pool was very cold, so we asked a member of staff if we could use the spa which they eventually agreed for us to do so.
But the disabled access to the spa was very disappointing as we had to help our students up the stairs using 2 staff either side again but the students did really enjoy using the Sauna and jacuzzi.
Our students wanted to leave Riverside after using the spa a costumer told us that there was a lift in the spa that leads you into the changing rooms and we tried to use the lift but there was no clear instructions on which floors you may need, the carpet was very dirty but we had no choice.
We must have been to every floor in riverside by using the lift provided as when the doors opened it looked like a warehouse / building site substantially lacked in safety and had numinous objects laying around.
Even the changing rooms are very difficult for disable people no rails provided, no disabled changing rooms, 2 disabled toilets which are very dirty and at the back of the changing rooms so very difficult to access and the normal toilets are very dirty with excrements left in them.
We are very disappointed by the lack of disabled access and cleanness in this establishment and hope this will encourage some changes to made for the future as Riverside does have to potential to become great for everyone.

The facilities are ok, need more equipment in the gym and the studio and the whole place needs to be repaired, there is no excuse for all the broken lockers. The main problem is the staff and their attitude but it is difficult to give good customer service when staff morale is so low. If you want to visit the gym you need to go at the weekend when it has been cleaned and the paper towels have been replenished, go any other time and there will be no loo roll and nothing to wipe the machines down with and most of the staff are too busy chatting to care. Go on a Wednesday night and there only seems to be 1 guy working and he is rushed off his feet. want to do a class and you have to book, however the online system is shocking and does not work and if you try and phone it just does not get answered. I do feel for the receptionists as they have an awful lot to do and this booking system has just added to their workload. They have a computer system which is too long winded and now have to deal with all the queries and complaints as long as taking cash and dealing with the football in the evenings and now bookings for classes as well as memberships as the membership guy is nowhere to be seen. There used to be membership advisors available all the time but I have not seen him for months which actually is a blessing a he is obnoxious and rude and lacking in any customer service skills but his inadequacy just heaps more work onto the receptionists. Even when you have booked for a pump class there is frequently not enough equipment and what there is is falling apart with the cement leaking out of the weights and not enough of some. Frequently you slip on the cement on the floor and if it trickles into your eye during the chest track it bloody hurts. Stephen Hughes was supposedly looking into this matter last summer but nothing has improved and it is a Health and Safety nightmare. Working for minimum wage and being threatened with a disciplinary every day does not build morale and when morale is so low the first thing that suffers is customer service. It would be easy to turn this centre around, treat people like human beings, performance related pay, employee of the month, sorting out the problems so that customers are not complaining all the time would be a good start. I could list half a dozen excellent staff who really care about the clients and do everything possible to make the Riverside experience a pleasant one but I feel these are the ones that will leave as they are capable of getting jobs elsewhere and then Riverside will be left with the bad ones!

Shocking customer service. Almost always rude. It's gotten to the point I'm surprised if any of them say thank you or even acknowledge my presence on the front desk. And forget about a smile. They just have **-off written all over their faces at the front desk.

The proper weights/barbell area isn't very good, very cramped...terrible considering one session is £8+ if you don't want the minimum three month membership. No belt there, no straps, no mirrors (not for vanity, for form checking) I'm surprised to see the councils logo all over it. They are ripping people off there.

Changing rooms are mixed, plenty of broken equipment.

Great facility, terrible atmosphere, staff are quite dismissive and tend to want to talk amongst themselves, rather then greet you as a customer.

So as a swimming and sport complex the facilities are adequate and i would recommend you go along, for customer service and atmosphere, well 0-1 if they're lucky.
